Fire Dogg Cookers

We had a very good weekend, this was our first cook-off with Zayne's new pit. It was also the hottest one we have been too and I ended up getting sick. We got there Friday afternoon and the fun started. We just hung out and had a good time. We had 2 campers set up facing each other and set up our little "commune". It was us, J&A cookers (Mike, Kathy & Austin). We also had the Smokin' Aces (Richard & Teresea). We got up Sat morning and made breakfast (and got the Pitts started). I made Zayne's family famous beignets for everyone. Then the work started (in between going inside the camper to cool off). The categories were beans, open, ribs and brisket. Zayne tried his hand at beans (didn't place). I made my burgers and got 9th place, Zayne got 2nd on his ribs and 7th on his brisket. But the best part of it all, was we got overall champions--and the trophy is so cool. I do need to shout out a thank you to the Scafuri's. They were so great in letting us stay in their A/C and Mike has been a big help to Zayne in his venture of his own team. Zayne is really excited about our first venture on his own. I will post pictures below.

I'm a big girl now

Okay, mom and dad made the plunge--Kamryn got a "big girl" bed. We got it this morning and Zayne put it together when we got home. She was excited, she thought it was a new toy. Then it was time for bed, and meltdown. She wanted to sleep in mommy's bed, I told her she had her own big girl bed now. The problem was I was also trying to use this to get her to give up her pacifier--didn't work. I gave her the pacifier and she laid down and was asleep in about 10 minutes. So the big girl bed is a success, but more work on the pacifier. Mom is not giving up yet, it is going to happen.
On the potty training front, she is doing good. No more diapers at school and we ran errands twice today--both times in panties and both times no accidents. We might just be on the home stretch yet.
Below are pictures of the big girl bed, see how happy she is.

Zayne's New Toy

Well, Zayne finally got his own pit, and boy is he excited. We have a cook-off next weekend and he wanted to try it out first so we picked it up today. There are still a few things that need to be done to it, but it was done enough for this weekend. This is a big investment so I told him he needs to win a lot!!!!! We do have a lot of fun at these cook offs so it is worth it. Below are some pictures of his new "toy".

Yes, we are still here

Sorry it has been so long since a post. We all took a "small" vacation and then Zayne and the kids went to Nebraska. I was hoping to post some pictures and stories about their trip; HOWEVER, something about sending dad and the kids--camera never got taken out. Last Tuesday we took Kamryn to her first water park. She absolutely loved it. I couldn't get her sunscreen on fast enough (and yet she still burned a little bit). She just played and laughed, she even loved riding around on the lazy river. Towards the end of the day I took her on a little bit bigger slide, she really enjoyed that too. Kyle of course had fun too, him and Zayne went on the non-mommy rides and I hung out with Kamryn. We got there at 10 and surprisingly she last til almost 4. That is when she passed out. I held her in the shade so Kyle could go ride the last of the rides he wanted to. She still talks about the water park, she is our little fish--she loves the water. Every Wed at school they wear their bathing suits to school because the play in the splash pad. The next day after to water park trip, Zayne and the kids left for their trip to Nebraska. Zayne's mom's family reunion is the 4th of July weekend, so they spent almost a week (they left Wed am and got back Mon pm). OMG--culture shock for mom. I did some shopping, going through stuff, cleaning and bonding time with my mom. All in all it was a nice LONG weekend and I got a lot done, but I was sure glad to see them come home. Update on growing Kami. Well, we had a little set back with the potty training this past week, but yesterday I think we got back on track. And it looks like this week she is going to move into her "big girl" bed. Boy, they sure do grow up fast. I will get some pictures taken and update. She is growing up so fast. And can anyone believe Kyle is going into the 8th grade. One more year and he will be in high school, lets see if we all survive.
