Cook off

We had another cook-off this weekend. It was incredibly cold, almost unbearable. We did pretty good though, there were 41 teams there. I got 5th on my dessert (blueberry dream cheesecake), Zayne got 2nd on beans, 12th on chicken and 7th on ribs.

7th place Ribs
Zayne was concerned about keeping the pitt hot since it was so cold. He put this blanket on it---it got dubbed the "pitt snuggie", Zayne is looking into marketing it (he he he)
Did I mention it was cold--we used this to keep warm.

Kamryn's visit to TCH

After our exciting and wonderful weekend it was off the our day at the hospital. We got up early and left the house at 6:30 for our adventure at Texas Children's Hospital (you are supposed to sleep in on your days off). Driving downtown I remembered why I live close to work. We finally arrived for our day, of mostly waiting. They injected Kamryn with a dye and then told us to come back in 2 hours. So off we went to kill time--I told her we could get a milkshake. So off to the Mickey D's, but apparently you can't get milkshakes at 9 am--but they did have wifi so K was able to watch some Mickey and Sponge Bob. Back to the nuclear medicine (doesn't that just sound creepish) for the x-rays. It took all of about 15 minutes which she watched the Disney channel during. Now it was back to more killing time--don't see doctor for another 2 hours. We went to the food court and ate some expensive not very good pizza. Then we decided to just sit in the doctor's waiting room since they had toys to play with. I started reading my book, Kamryn played withe toys and Zayne supervised through his eyelids. Did I mention Zayne and I were completely exhausted from lack of sleep. Between the excitement of Jon's car and being afraid it was going to happen again (to be on the safe side Jon left his Tahoe at my house--I spent most of the night listening to make sure they weren't casing my neighborhood this time) and the anxiety of Kamryn's tests--we didn't get much sleep. Finally got to see the doctor--everything is fine. Her right kidney is 3mm smaller than the left, but nothing to worry about. So, at 2 pm we are headed home with the relief that Kamryn does not have damage. She will still need to take medicine and have her annual tests done in November until she completely outgrows the reflux, but it has not caused more extensive damage. Now, maybe we can go back to some normalcy. Work has settled down, Kamryn doesn't have damage and life is good.

GGPa's 80th

I have been gone for awhile, sorry about that--but I am back and with a lot to talk about.
First up GGPa's big 80 birthday party. The day started out hard though (if you haven't seen Jenny's blog) Jon woke up to a beautifully Tahoe with no tires or rims. Not how you want to start your day.
Jenny and I took the girls to the party while the guys (Jon, Zayne and Kyle) took care of the wheel situation. It was a wonderful party--GGMa really out did herself on this one. The food was great and you could really tell that Grandpa really enjoyed himself and appreciated it all.
Our evening almost ended up the way the day began. Jenny told a very good story about the Tahoe situation; however, she left out how the night ended. Mom's neighborhood has this unexplainable rule about not having cars parked in the street after dark. Well, there was no where to park, so we were parked in the street--we weren't planning on staying over night so what was the harm. Well, Jon, Amanda, Jenny, Zayne and I were sitting in the living talking; Jon was a little uneasy about his truck so was checking outside almost every 10 minutes. Zayne got up once and he checked--he opened the door and started yelling out the door. At first we thought he was just messing with Jon, until he yelled again. Well Jon hurdled over Jenny, Amanda and I and then the 3 of us tripped over each other to get to the door. Jon's wheels were okay, but they were trying to tow our truck. So, after some foul language out of me (I have no idea where that came from) and $100 later our truck was "dropped". So Zayne then parked the truck in the front yard until we left--no where else to park.
So, we had an exciting weekend. Jenny posted some very nice pictures from the party--below are a few more. Thanks again GGMa for a WONDERFUL party--you did GREAT!!!
Here is Pops with GGPa and GGMa (I think the pic turned out good)
