The Rodeo

Those who from Houston, enough said--those not the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo happens once a year and is a big deal. For the competitors it is one of "the" rodeos to win. I have been going for years and LOVE it, if it wasn't so far and pricey I would probably go to almost every night, it last almost 3 weeks. Zayne and I went to the rodeo last night and it was really nice. Keith Urban was in concert, and I will admit I like some of his songs but not a HUGE fan (I mean he is no Bon Jovi). With that said and the fact that I didn't know a lot of his songs, I think he was one of the most entertaining shows I have seen at the rodeo. Those who have never been, the whole stadium is layered with dirt (duh, its a rodeo) and then during the concert a small stage (small in comparison to the whole stadium) comes out to the middle and that is where the performer is. So basically what I am trying to say is that front row is still pretty far away (I know-I had front row to Bon Jovi and still had to look at the big screens sometimes to see him). Most performers stay on stage the whole time. I have seen some, Neal McCoy, Brooks & Dunn and Big & Rich, come off the stage and run around the stadium. However, last night I saw the first and I think it made the security nervous. Keith Urban not only came off the stage but he ran around the stadium and slapped hands with the front rowers (Bon Jovi take note). There are parts where you can't get to the people due to the chutes--didn't stop him, climbed over cattle guards and all. At one point he actually went into the stands, I know the fans were loving it--but security, not so much. It was rather amusing for us to try and watch security keep people away from swarming him. All in all it was very nice, like I said I didn't know many of his songs--but he was great to watch. Then came the downer of the evening, not enough to spoil the evening, but enough to be annoyed. We went out to the truck and I opened my door and something didn't look right--things looked out of place. I looked up and about the same time I noticed Zayne's door was unlocked he noticed there was no lock for him to put the key in. A few choice words came after that. We looked around and nothing was taken, the only things of value in the truck were some tools and the GPs--neither of which were taken. We found the cop so we could make the prelim report and he said several were broken into but electronics was not the choice of poison this evening. He said they were looking for purses, wallets and suitcases--basically money. They had left behind GPS's, DVD's and TV's from other vehicles. What I thought was sweet was the cop asked us not to let this spoil our evening, we told him it wasn't--it is what it is. And what it is basically is very annoying--they didn't take anything and now we have to pay to get the locked fixed. Really people--have you heard of the concept of working. I know people are hiring almost every where Zayne and I go there are hiring signs up--get a job and leave my stuff alone. I guess this has just not been a good vehicle year for my brother and I. Well no pictures--just a brief update of our evening. We are having the March birthday celebrations on Sunday, so there should be pictures after that. Well, half of March any way--Kerry is in Fort Worth and Tricia is doing Angela's separate--so we are celebrating Kyle and Kathy--woo hoo birthday K's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
